About Me

Hey! I’m Sara, a graduate from Hornsby Girls who is currently studying Medicine at UNSW.

While I loved maths and science in junior years, I was never scoring well in my exams despite pouring time and effort into the content. I was always terrified to flick through my papers because the number of silly mistakes was always so disheartening, and it became a frustrating cycle trying to explain to my parents I really studied the content hard. But studying hard doesn’t equal efficiency, and in Year 12, I ended up Rank 2 in Chemistry and 4 in Maths Advanced and Maths Extension.

What changed?

First, I had to look past the formulas, passively writing notes and instead learn concepts in a holistic, visual way. The second was to be honest with myself and focus on my weaknesses by accumulating mistakes, then targeting them. These changes helped me see how different concepts were related, synthesise them in exams and really enjoy maths and chemistry.
