Hello, I’m Sandra He! I graduated from Meriden in 2022, finishing Year 12 ranked 1^st at school for Chemistry, Maths Extension 1 and Maths Extension 2. I achieved a 99.8 ATAR with marks of 96 in Chemistry and Maths Extension 2, and 97 in Maths Extension 1.

 

However, there was certainly a point in time where I never thought that these results would be possible. In fact, I nearly dropped out of Maths Extension 2 in the first term because I was struggling to grasp new concepts and felt completely overwhelmed. I was convinced that I would never understand the subject or be able to attempt difficult questions.

 

So, if you’re feeling the same way about Chemistry or Maths, I want to help you turn that around!

 

I found that the best way to deal with this was to take each concept step-by-step. It was easy to try to rush through the content, but that left me with significant gaps in my understanding. Instead, I slowed down, forcing myself to precisely think about how each step or conclusion was connected to the previous one. I strive to teach in the same way, helping you to pinpoint those gaps and fill them in to make sure each concept is solidified.

 

Also, I will go through many practice questions in class to transform concepts from abstract to concrete. I found that seeing ideas put into action was often the ‘lightbulb’ moment for me, where I was able to understand how a formula could be used to solve certain problems, for instance. I will also refine your responses to various practice questions and support you as you navigate new or challenging ones, equipping you to conquer your school and HSC exams.

 

You will also be able to get my help whenever you require, including 1-on-1 time outside of class. Being able to reach out for help when I was unsure about a topic, or revising for an exam, made a significant difference in my confidence and ultimately, performance.
